Shyam Sunder

During a career spanning 35 years , Mr Sunder has worked extensively  in HSE( Health Safety and Environment) and Steel  Manufacturing with a brief stint in Pharma. He has led  change initiatives  that has helped transform safety culture of the organizations as well as achieve manufacturing excellence.

• As, Safety Lead  in Nakoda Chemicals, Hyderabad , a pharma unit , has driven Process Safety and Maintenance systems.

At Tata Steel,

• As, Chief Corporate Safety and Health for India and South East Asia,  spearheaded safety and health initiatives to achieve zero fatality in Mines and collieries and Kalinganagar Steel project ( 6 million tonnes greenfield project) with more than one lakh contract workmen engaged in the project.He worked along with DuPont for implementation of the Safety Management system across the organization.
• As, Chief Operations Wire Business( COO) , led the manufacturing excellence in the Wire Business, including shifting of facilities from Mumbai to Tarapur. He also played key role in expansion of the Wire business capacity across the country.
• As, Chief Wire Rod Mill , was in charge of manufacturing of the Wire Rods as key portfolio of the Long products basket.He worked closely with McKinsey & Co and BCG for implementation of the high-profile organization -wide TOP( Total Operational Performance) improvement program.

Mr Shyam Sunder completed his graduation in Electrical Engineering from College of Engineering , Osmania University , Hyderabad and is a rank holder. He has also been member of the Indian Institution of Engineers, CII – Eatern Region and World Steel Association (Safety and Health Committee)
